This week is a little different. This will be my first edition of what I’m calling Takeout Tuesday. Instead of dining in I ordered it for takeout. For future information Takeout Tuesday will probably also include deliveries.
I was on my way back home from a great Cubs game (they beat the Brewers in Milwaukee) and it was around dinner time. So I called the Rosati’s Pizza in Carpentersville for pick up. The woman who answered the phone was very nice and professional. I even got a “hun” out of her. She quoted me a 20 minute time but I told her I would be there in about 45 minutes and to have it ready at that time. Not a problem.
I arrived at the location. This Rosati’s is on a small strip mall attached to a 7-eleven. On the far left side is the carry out section but they do have a dine in section as well. It’s walled off from the other side so I can’t speak to as what it looks like. I know there’s a lot of pizza places around but this Rosati’s shares a parking lot with another popular pizza place.
Anyway, I was greeted immediately. My pizza was ready. I ordered a medium 14″ double dough pepperoni pizza and a 20 ounce bottle of soda. The total was $21.08. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. They have a pizza carousal on the counter which leads me to believe they offer slices at some point during the day.
It was less than five minutes to my house and it was nice and hot. Now time to eat.
Damn it, I forgot to ask for pie cut again. Doesn’t that look good though? For me that’s a perfect cook, nicely browned cheese without a burnt crust. I think it’s always a nice touch to get the plastic table in the middle so that the cheese doesn’t get stuck to the lid. There’s plenty of pepperoni on there and a good amount of cheese.
The bottom crust is nice and crisp while the double dough creates a nice and chewy crust. The pepperoni had a nice spice to it and the sauce was good; it wasn’t sweet like some and was more flavorful than just a marinara.
I will eat Rosati’s again. I’m not going to lie, it’s been a go to of mine for many years. Rosati’s does franchise and each one is slightly different. However, they’re generally good and they have an extensive menu. Aside from pizzas and calzones the have pasta, ribs, fried chicken, seafood, salads, and sandwiches. In fact, they have an Italian beef sandwich called The Cheef which ranks up near the top of the list of good Italian beef sandwiches.
Have a slice for me.
